Nursing Care

Individuals residing at Westerton Care Home who have physical disabilities, increasing dependency needs, or who may require end-of-life care are cared for by our dedicated and highly qualified nurses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our local residents receive nothing more than the utmost respect and support as well as those closest to them.

Residents at our nursing home in Glasgow can be confident that they will receive highly-skilled nursing care while keeping their independence. We believe that every person should be able to live a full and independent life in a safe and caring environment.

What is Nursing Care?

Nursing care is most appropriate for residents who require medical and personal care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This form of care is often best suited for those with physical limitations and those who require extensive care; it is also the best option for people who have long-term health conditions.

Residents who receive nursing care have total access to on-site support from nursing professionals at all hours of the day and night, making us the most appropriate option for those with medical issues that necessitate constant care and assistance.

Nursing Care FAQs

The type of nursing care given will vary depending on the needs of the individual. However, at Westerton Care Home, we can provide a range of different nursing services from medication management and wound care, to help with activities of daily living and support with physical disabilities, mental health conditions and sensory impairment.

You should consider nursing care when any of the below starts to happen:

  • Worsening chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, or dementia
  • Difficulty performing activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, or grooming
  • Recent falls, injuries, hospitalisations or emergency room visits
  • Significant weight loss or changes in appetite
  • Increased confusion or forgetfulness
  • Difficulty managing medications or complying with treatment plans
  • Need for specialised medical equipment or care, such as oxygen therapy or wound care

Our nursing team will assess the level of care that is required and provide advice on the most appropriate type of care for you or your loved one. It is important when making the decision to go into a care home to communicate openly with your family members and ensure that the person requiring care is involved in the decision-making process where possible.

Westerton Care Home is responsible for ensuring the safety of its residents. We achieve this by ensuring adequate staffing levels are provided, nursing staff are properly trained and qualified, protocols for infection control and medication management are implemented, and regular safety audits and assessments are conducted. We also adopt the relevant security measures in place to prevent unauthorised access and to protect the safety of our residents.
