Dining Options

We at Westerton Care Home understand the importance of living a happy life, and the role that an enjoyable dining experience plays. Our in-house chefs take great delight in providing home-cooked meals that are always varied and feature some of our clients’ favourite dishes. Meals can be delivered discreetly to residents’ rooms or socially in one of our comfortable dining areas; our residents’ preferences and best interests will always be at the forefront of everything we do.

Food has a considerably stronger impact on our health as we become older, and we recognise that eating a decent meal has a significant impact on our overall health and well-being. Relatives and friends may rest easy knowing that residents are having a wonderful time eating fantastic food every day, thanks to the calm atmosphere provided by the spacious and pleasantly decorated dining areas.

A Dining Experience with a Personal Touch

At Westerton Care Home, we believe mealtimes are about more than just food – they’re moments of comfort, connection and routine. To ensure each resident’s nutritional needs and preferences are fully supported, we create a Nutritional Passport as part of their welcome. This passport is unique to them, capturing everything from their favourite spreads and drinks to dietary needs, hydration preferences and even how they like their tea made. It’s all part of delivering genuinely personalised care.

We also understand how important the right environment can be. That’s why we work hard to make each mealtime a calming, enjoyable experience, especially for those living with dementia. A familiar setting, friendly faces, and a sense of routine can make all the difference.

Residents have regular opportunities to shape their meals through unit meetings with the chef, offering feedback and suggestions. Our seasonal menus change throughout the year to reflect fresh, local ingredients and evolving tastes, with popular highlights including a Sunday roast with rotating meats and a much-loved Fish Friday supper.

Snacks, Celebrations, and Something Sweet

Each of our seven dining rooms, one in every unit, provides a warm and welcoming space to enjoy meals with friends. Families can also book our dedicated celebration room, where the chef is happy to prepare a special meal or buffet to mark birthdays or milestones.

Snacks are always close at hand. You’ll find cake and snack boxes filled with goodies like crisps, chocolate bars, and home-baked treats in every unit. Kitchens also offer essentials like toast and hot drinks, and water coolers are available throughout the home to support hydration.

Whether it’s a birthday cake, a cup of tea with a slice of homemade sponge, or a relaxed lunch with family, everything we serve is made with care. At Westerton, dining is about nourishing the body and lifting the spirit – one thoughtful detail at a time.
