Floral Fun Brings Smiles to Westerton Care Home

Westeron Care Home in Glasgow has been in full bloom recently with our new flower arranging activity, bringing a beautiful touch of spring into our shared spaces. Residents carefully selected their favourite blooms, thoughtfully arranging them into stunning displays that are now proudly showcased throughout our communal lounges and dining areas.
The session was both creative and calming, offering a lovely sensory experience filled with delicate smells, varied textures and vibrant colours. Handling the fresh flowers sparked meaningful conversations, with many residents reminiscing about weddings, gardens and other special celebrations from years gone by. These shared memories created valuable social moments, filled with warmth and connection.

Beyond the enjoyment, flower arranging also supports fine motor skills and provides gentle mental stimulation, helping to promote brain health and overall wellbeing. Making decisions about colours, shapes and placement encouraged confidence and independence, and it has been truly heartwarming to see the pride residents take pride in their finished creations.
The beautiful arrangements have certainly brightened our home, adding a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. Every day at Westerton Care Home in Glasgow is a wonderful reminder of how thoughtful activities can bring such joy.
