A Titanic Experience at Westerton Care Home

Residents at Westerton Care Home in Longfield recently enjoyed a fascinating journey back in time with a special Titanic-themed session. We were delighted to welcome Sean from Titanic Honour and Glory Exhibitions, who brought history vividly to life with his engaging presentation.
Sean arrived dressed in a full captain’s uniform and brought along authentic Titanic memorabilia, including lifebelts and other historical artefacts. Residents were immediately captivated as he shared stories about the ship’s construction, its passengers, and the events leading to its tragic sinking. The session offered a unique opportunity to learn about the people on board and the enduring legacy of this iconic ship.

The presentation was both educational and inspiring. Residents asked questions, shared their own knowledge and reflections, and examined the memorabilia up close, appreciating the craftsmanship and historical significance of each item. The captain’s uniform and lifeguard equipment added authenticity and helped transport everyone back to the early 20th century.
Events like these are an important part of life at Westerton. They provide stimulating and enjoyable experiences that encourage residents to engage, reminisce, and connect with each other. History sessions such as this one create meaningful conversation, spark curiosity, and leave lasting memories.

We would like to extend our thanks to Sean for delivering such an informative and entertaining session. His passion and knowledge made the story of the Titanic come alive, leaving everyone inspired and fascinated.
