The Day the First Minister Came to VisitWe were delighted to welcome the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to Westerton Care Home this Easter Monday, where she enjoyed a tour of our home and joined us for Afternoon Tea! The First Minister was welcomed by residents and staff, and enjoyed chatting over a cup of tea with residents who were also enjoying the press attention, as Nicola had been accompanied by several journalists and news crews! Residents who love the limelight enjoyed taking part in photographs, and were also filmed for a news piece which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH-olVdn5fY The visit was part of the SNP's launch of plans to protect benefits for the elderly and raise pensions but Ms Sturgeon also spent time getting to know our residents, chatting with them and finding out more about life at Westerton Care Home. Joan Fraser, Head of Care, said: We were delighted that Nicola Sturgeon took the time to visit us here at Westerton Care Home. It was exciting for our residents, especially with all of the press attention - it was more like a celebrity visit! She was very natural, laughing, speaking and dining with our residents, and she was keen to chat with our staff about the care we provide which we're always more than happy to talk about! I hope she enjoyed her day as much as our residents did, and she is always welcome to stop by again for a cup of tea.
