Unveiling Our New Garden, Bringing Nature, Connection & Wellbeing to Residents
Residents here at Westerton Care Home in Bearsden are enjoying a beautiful new outdoor space, specially designed to encourage connection with nature, gentle movement and meaningful time spent together.
Our newly created gardens have been designed with residents at the heart of the project, providing a versatile space where residents, families and staff can enjoy everything from peaceful moments surrounded by nature to lively celebrations and social gatherings.
To celebrate the completion of the transformation, we recently hosted a special garden party, giving residents, families, friends and members of the local community the opportunity to see the newly designed and landscaped gardens for the first time.
The event was well attended, with guests coming together to enjoy the new outdoor space, spend time with residents and celebrate the work that had gone into creating the garden. We were also entertained by singer Scotty D, who helped create a lively and memorable atmosphere throughout the afternoon.
Westerton Home Manager, Heather Lundie, said:
“We have created a new outdoor space that is more than just a collection of plants and pathways. It has been designed to awaken the senses, invite gentle movement and offer a peaceful space where residents, families and staff can connect with nature and each other - whether that’s enjoying a quiet moment or taking part in exciting celebrations.
“Our garden party was a wonderful opportunity to officially reveal the finished gardens and share them with our local community. It was fantastic to see so many people come along, enjoy themselves and celebrate what we have created together.”
The new gardens will play an important role in enhancing residents’ quality of life, offering opportunities to spend more time outdoors, enjoy sensory experiences and remain active and engaged within the home’s surroundings.
From enjoying the changing seasons, taking part in activities and tending to plants, to spending time with loved ones or simply sitting outdoors and enjoying a moment of tranquillity, the garden has been created to be enjoyed in a variety of ways throughout the year.
The landscaping and garden transformation was carried out by Glenrothes-based PaveCo Ltd, whose work helped bring our vision for the new outdoor space to life.
