Staying Connected to the Community at Woodlands Care Home

Maintaining strong links with the local community is an important part of daily life at Woodlands Care Home, where residents are regularly supported to get out and about, explore familiar places, and stay connected with the world around them.

Recent outings have taken residents to a variety of well-loved local spots, including afternoon tea visits to the Atholl Hotel and relaxing trips to Mains of Drum Garden Centre. These outings provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise, enjoy a change of scenery, and spend time together in a relaxed setting.

Nature also plays a big part in these experiences, with visits to local green spaces such as Duthie Park, Hazlehead Park and Johnston Gardens. These outings allow residents to enjoy fresh air, gentle walks, and the comfort of familiar surroundings, all of which support both physical and emotional well-being.

A recent highlight was a visit to the Titanic Exhibition at P&J Live. The experience offered residents the chance to learn something new while also reflecting on history, sparking thoughtful conversations and shared memories throughout the group.

In addition to outings, the home continues to play an active role within the community. During the Easter period, residents and staff came together to give back by delivering Easter eggs to local organisations, including a children’s hospital, emergency services, and GP practices. This simple but meaningful gesture was warmly received and provided a lovely opportunity for residents to feel connected to and involved in the wider community.

At Woodlands Care Home, staying connected goes beyond outings. It is about creating opportunities for residents to remain part of the community, build relationships, and continue enjoying meaningful experiences.
