Resident & Staff Out on The Barge

Sunshine and Smiles: Westerton Care Home’s Celebration of Warm Weather

At Westerton Care Home, we are delighted to have booked our monthly canal boat trips with the warm weather fast approaching. April was our first outing as the better weather has just begun. We were very lucky with the weather and even got a little sunbathing on the boat.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed the nice weather and being in the fresh air, while enjoying the beautiful scenery and being on the lookout for animals.

Going on boat trips such as these provides a wonderful experience for residents and staff. It provides a change of scenery and a chance to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, which can boost mood and improve overall well-being.

For many of our residents, being on a boat can be a calming and peaceful experience, which can be especially beneficial for those living with Dementia. Regular boat trips also offer a social element, allowing residents to spend time with fellow residents and staff and engage in conversation, making it a memorable experience.

We are so grateful to have beautiful canals on our doorstep at Westerton Care Home. We look forward to the next boat trip where we hope the weather will be on our side once again.
