Celebrating the Wonderful Women of Westerton Care Home

March was a month of celebration at Westerton Care Home in Bearsden, Glasgow, as residents, families, and staff came together to mark two meaningful occasions - International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day.

At Westerton Care Home, we believe it’s important to recognise the special dates that matter to our residents and their families. This March gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that by celebrating the incredible women who have shaped our lives, communities, and families.

International Women’s Day was a lovely occasion, where residents and team members gathered to share stories about the women who inspired them. From tales of wartime bravery to cherished memories of mothers, grandmothers, and friends, it was a heart-warming afternoon filled with laughter, reflection, and plenty of tea and cake. The event encouraged conversation, connection, and gave everyone the chance to reminisce about the remarkable women who’ve made a lasting impact on their lives.

Just a few days later, Mother’s Day brought another wonderful reason to celebrate. The dining room was beautifully decorated for the occasion, creating a welcoming and cosy setting for our special lunch. Residents were surrounded by loved ones, friends, and fellow residents. Thoughtful touches and warm wishes made the afternoon feel extra special, as families gathered to spend quality time together and show appreciation for the wonderful mothers and grandmothers in their lives.

Both events proved to be a fantastic way to bring joy and a sense of togetherness to the home. Celebrating these occasions not only lifted spirits but also sparked happy memories and heartfelt conversations among residents and staff alike.
